Interview With Jack The Ripper
Jack the Ripper first stepped on the scene in the height of the golden era, on some of the most prominent and distinctive hip hop records and compilations of all time. First getting mic time on Group Home's Debut album "Living Proof" lending his unique style, as always, to some of the most legendary hip hop tracks from that time, including "Suspended in time"- and "Tha Realness" both produced by DJ Premier, and known to hip-hop purists as the absolute definition of golden era classics.
Who are your influences in the game and in your personal life?
My influence in the rap game is KRS1 (that is one of many) he is one of the illest Mc's out there! His lyrics are powerful in my opinion.
My children are also huge influences on me, they are my motivation!
For as much as they look up to me- I learn from them every day.
If you could compare yourself to an already established artist, who would that be and why?
If I have to compare myself to someone I will go with.... Nas, I say that only because people have compared me to him before.
Who is your hero?
My hero definitely is God and My lovely family, they are giving me all the support and inspiration for my music!
What do you think your listeners will get out of your music? I hope that my listeners and fans will get the positive vibes which I am trying to send throughout my music. I hope that all my music fans will take that key to my music!
What made you want to get into the business?
I grew up around music business and my brother, Lil Dap had success early in the rap game, along with the rap group Gang Starr and Guru.
There is no surprise that I am in rap game now haha.
What were you thinking about when your songs are developed? Explain your process. I don't really have a process which I am following on regular basis. I just go in the booth, sit back with my team and let the music talk to me. Always when I am doing recordings I am going all in, so that my listeners can feel the message I am sending out!
What is the most difficult thing you’ve had to endure in life?
A very difficult time in my was when my son almost lost his life... And my youngest daughter fought to be here with us. They were both very critical times in my life.
What do you hope to do with your music?
I hope to bring joy to the world with my music. Seeing that the time is right for my style to re-emerge on the Hip-Hop scene, I am planning to attack with a number of new releases as well as re-releases of old hits, and an army of new hip-hop, R&B, and crossover hip-hop/rock artists!
Do you have your own songs in your favourite playlist? Actually today I was listening to 'Don't sleep on me' and 'A trademark'.
Some other of my favorite songs are 'Daddy's Little Girl' and 'Rocking With The Kings'
