Exclusive Interview with Rising Star - CrestIsMuzik from Chicago
We have just sat down to do an exclusive interview with upcoming star from Chicago - CrestIsMuzik. Read below his life story, his aims and future releases.
How long have you been in the music industry and has music always been a part of your life? Well, I’ve been doing music since I was 6 years old. But I’ve just started putting it out these past 2 years.
Was there a specific moment in your life where you thought, “music is what I want to do”? Nope I knew that I wanted to do music all my life. Sometimes my mom tells stories on how I use to move around in her stomach when music played. It’s crazy that you ask that because I’m literally from a music household. All we do is play music, watch music, and talk music.
What inspires you (or your music)? When people tell me my music changed their life. That’s the best part. Putting something out there in the world that wasn’t there before.
Who’s on your iTunes playlist?’ Chris brown, Ed sheer an, Adele, Sam Smith, Lil Wayne, Young thug, etc.
The project you are currently promoting, how did the idea for it come about? Well I’m Jamaican and American, so I just love doing dance music. Its in my nature, it’s in my blood. I just wanted to start a new wave. Found something different on a dance hall beat, taking an R&B and EDM approach. Looks like it did really good.
There are thousands of artists trying to do what you are doing, what do you think gives you an advantage to break into mainstream America? Well I would just say I’m talented and my music speaks for it self, but I think there’s way more to it than just that. I think it’s because I work hard, I’m very smart and my personality is good too. Personality plays a big part in this business.
I’ve heard your latest music and it’s amazing! I can definitely tell your sound has evolved over the past few years from previous songs we’ve heard from you online. What are your thoughts on the evolution of an artist and the evolution of music today? It definitely has evolved loll and thank you. I think it’s because I’ve evolved as a person and I started to know what I want in my music and I started knowing how to do music the more and more I do it. All I can say to a new artist is keep pushing, you’ll definitely get better every song you do.
Do you have other passions in life? Do you believe passion is an essential part of success? Yes , I like to paint and also I like to entertain others. It just warms my heart seeing happy people. Yes, passion is something you desire, something that drives you to achieve your goals and the more you do them, the more likely you are to succeed.
With your current success and working with a renowned PR firm such as Starlight PR, What advice would you give to someone just starting out in his or her career who doesn't even have a studio to record but would love to do what you are doing now? Working with starlight taught my to stay humble and to build awareness. I learned that people have to know who you are before they will rock with you all the way. I definitely recommend Starlight to any upcoming or mainstream artist. They do what they say they are going to do. I’d also tell them to stay focused on there talent. To know what they want and write a list down and start crossing the things out as they accomplished them, one by one. But most of all hurry and get to that studio once you have your beautiful songs ready to be heard by the world.
