Interview with PresidentRJ
What drew you to the music industry? I was with another artist “@givinci.223” studio session when I first hit the music seen. It was never intentional, he’s had a 30 minutes left of his session and he was already done. He put on a beat and told me to go in . That’s how it all started from there
Who are you inspired by? Two artist that really inspire me is both money man and Lil baby. There unique flow in music and they have real stories behind it. One thing that sticks to me is when lil baby said that motivates me is “from the block to the billboard.” He came a long way and now he’s at the top of the music game.
Please explain your creative process. When I’m in my creative process I just listens to beats all day , I don’t try and make the lyrics right away. I try and find the melody of my sound first . So I hum through the beat and sleep on it . Majority of the times I wake up out of my sleep because it comes to me while I’m sleep. I don’t like to force my lyrics. Let them flow within listening to the beat a couple of days maybe even a week.
What’s an average day like for you? An average day for me is playing madden and listening to producers beats. Nothing much else to it.
Is there a hidden meaning in any of your music? In my music I tell a lot of my story. A lot of rappers tell other people story but I want to tell my own. If listeners listen to metaphors they might learn things they can use in everyday life.
Do you collaborate with others? What is that process? I have never collaborated with another artist . Since I’m new to the music I want to make my own project and later collaborate with other artist when I find myself in my music.
Please discuss how you interact with and respond to fans. First day I dropped to my song I had over 40 dm request from people who like my music. I take the time out and personally respond to each and every one of them. Fans are really special process of the music because they encourage you to keep going.
What is your favorite part about this line of work? Your least favorite? Why? My favorite part about what is the fans. It’s really encouraging how people take the time to engage in something you do. It’s my first experience with this type of energy with people and i love it. I appreciate everyone who reaches out to me that enjoys my music.
Have you ever dealt with performance anxiety? No performances yet , but I’m almost 100% I will have stage fright.
What advice would you have for someone wanting to follow in your
footsteps? Advice I would tell someone is to just get out there and do it. Don’t half way do it , give it your all. You never know what your capable of. I might be the greatest tennis player or swimmer and I wouldn’t know because I never tried . Don’t limit yourself.
