Interview With Sleepy

What drew you to the music industry?

Honestly, the love for music drew me towards the music industry. I just love how my words can change someone's life decision or how it can inspire someone else.

Who are you inspired by?

I am inspired by all artist no matter what genres because being a artist is scary, exciting, overwhelming and thrilling plus everyone cant do this but if I had to choose artist that made me fall in love with this music game, I would say outkast, T.I, ludacris, Big L, Biggie, Tupac, Nwa, whitney houston, TLC, E40 , UGK, 8ball MJG, luther vandross, James brown, and plenty more.

Please explain your creative process. My creative process is simple no to much magic to it. I see thing in my life from the pass , present or future and I write what I've seen, done or heard. I may smoke or drink to catch my vibe or I'll just do it sober if I am just feeling myself. I may take other people storys and write something people can feel emotionally because that's how we connect to music.

What’s an average day like for you? A average day is just like yours. I work out, pray, and do my best to perfect my craft to get better prepared for any opportunity. Nights I work and weekends i perform or go to the studio to record songs that makes me feel amazing but my next interview, my average day would consist of photo shoots, video shoots, major interviews, help my community and giving back , performing, and tons of other amazing a famous artist would do trust me.

Is there a hidden meaning in any of your music? All my music is about being positive, something I been thru or seen and grinding your way up the ladder.

Do you collaborate with others? Yes I do collaborate with others artist. What is that process? I would contact them or vice versa, find a beat on either end or use a beat I already have. We sit down and spit our verses to each and see what fit and what doesnt. Smoke and drink hit up the studio and lay the track down. Me personally I listen to the song over and over and over and over again to see if anything need to be fix then if the artist like it we plan a day to drop and figure if we want to do a video or not. Once we drop it we PROMOTE the hell out the video until we gain access to new fans around the world.

Please discuss how you interact with and respond to fans. When it comes to fans , I always COMMENT back and follow them whenever they leave a comment, I also share them on my storys and like most they pictures to let them know i am show love.

What is your favorite part about this line of work? Your least favorite? Why? My favorite part of this line of work is that people actually listening to your music and giving feedback GOOD or Bad because it's hard to get support but I understand that the more work you put behind your brand the more people will see you or notice you. The least favorite is that everyone is tryna get a dollar out you instead of tryna build a relationship with you. Dont get me wrong the value of someone's service has a price and that's cool but most dont care about building they only care about them. The more you give the more you get back. I am not talking about giving anything free but support is free, repost is free and streaming helps trust.

Have you ever dealt with performance anxiety? Yes of course but you have good nights and bad night so the more I perform the more it goes away.

Tell me about your favorite performance venues I dont have a favorite venue , I just love the vibe from any venue long as its positive and love in the building.

What advice would you have for someone wanting to follow in your footsteps?

I would them be orginal, learn the music business and read and also go to music conferences and check out webinars. Promote the hell of all your music and pay other to promote your music also because you cant do it by yourself I've tried. Never Give up and never stop chance your dream no matter who tell you that your music is trash. People did no like the migos , soulja boy or Gucci when they first came out now look at them. Find your lane and stick to the plan. Strategize and execute
