Interview with Joe Dirrt
What drew you to the music industry? Jay-Z ,Nas, Outkast,Max-B , 50 Cent, Lloyd Banks, Stack Bundles, Big Pun, Ice Cube, Dj Quik, Big,Pac, Pusha-T, Eminem, Lil Wayne, and Mobb Deep.
Who are you inspired by? My son inspired, because he give me the motivation to not only to better but also to go for my dream
Please explain your creative process. I analyze what I’m working with, and what ever mood I start feeling, it enhance me to make a song.
What’s an average day like for you? My days is to go to work and make sure I take care of my son which is number 1 priority. The time I have left over is dedicated to my music.
Is there a hidden meaning in any of your music? Yea this come from the pain of the death of mother and my father. And the many failure that happen in my life.
Do you collaborate with others? What is that process? I love to work with other great artist. It all about making good music plus it help me to get better. I like to feel what they going talk about because it build a great connection.
Please discuss how you interact with and respond to fans I really appreciate the good and bad feedback for my music. It always lesson in everything. Can’t be prideful.
What is your favorite part about this line of work? Your least favorite? Why? It allow me to enjoy what I love to. It more then the fame and money. It all about be comfortable and happy. It going come with hater but it ok because you can learn something for them.
Have you ever dealt with performance anxiety? No because I alway like to have preparation when performing because I look at the great artist who give their fan top of line show.
Tell me about your favorite performance venues I perform at the Nova which was high energy, opening up for DJ Quik. It was great to learn from a great to be able to perform
What advice would you have for someone wanting to follow in your footsteps? Just believe in yourselves. If you really want to do it, you to give your all. There going be failure but you got to keep grinding. Always continue learn and get better, never feel like you know everything
