'Reiks ft Chris King - West Coast #MAMBADAY'
Of course we are talking about the great and legendary Kobe Bryant!
Chris, introduce yourself to our readers, tell us how did you
discovered your talent as a rapper?
Ayo everybody! My name is Chris King and I am a multi-profession individual. My passion, or I would indicate more as an interest in rap showed up around 2005 due to my brother being a heavy fan of it (He’s around 7 years older than me, so of course what he was listening to, so was I) and around that time The Game’s Documentary came out and I just fell in love with it, I remember when he dropped the video for Hate It or Love It and I would like impatiently wait all day by the TV for it to come on whatever TV Channel it was (most likely MTV as I recall) But yeah, I started rapping at around 11 in Austria, Vienna where I previously resided, but it wasn’t all that, I would say I started rapping on a more professional level around 2015.
What exactly is Trill Era and Monedi, tell me more what these 2
projects you are working with are?
This is how I currently explain Monedi to people who ask me about it. Monedi is pretty much a tree which has a lot of unique branches growing out of it, and these branches are various areas of work, those being such as entertainment, journalism, scientific research, application development and the list goes on, as far as I know we work with over 20 different areas of business currently, we are still expanding it and I would call it currently in the development process, so in around less than a year you will definitely be hearing about Monedi way more and internationally.
What do you think your listeners will get out of your music?
My music is very diverse, one week I can drop something similar to Lil Yachty, the next week it could be song in-depth Kendrick Lamar type song. It really depends on my vibe and the atmosphere, but to answer it very precisely, I am not here to follow the ordinary rules of Hip Hop, I am here to make it more diverse, if you know what I mean.
Who influenced your style?
Drake definitely. Been a fan of Drake since So Far Gone, currently also I would be able to say Travis Scott, but overall Drake.
So tell me, how did you met with Latvian Rap star ‘Reiks’?
Funny story actually, we met in the summer of 2014 and this was before Olas was a popular brand, so my manager finds his number on Twitter and sends it to me, since I always start conversations in english, I am like yeah Im from L.A lets make a collab, he thinks it his sister pranking, and I am like no, like for real lets do a collaboration, and the first time we met of course we were speaking english, and then one day we were going to the beach to play volleyball or something and there was another guy in the car and Im like in Latvian “yeah, I actually speak Latvian on a somewhat okay level” and he like immediately looked at me like what the fuck haha, but yeah we started working on West Coast that same year but it only reached light 2 years later.
If you could choose to work with some of today’s established
artists or producers, to move your game to the top, with whom
would you like to collaborate?
Artists : Justin Bieber, Weeknd and Drake, the almighty 6Gods as I call them, definitely Travis Scott and Lil Yachty, I fucking love Lil Yachty he just simply doesn’t give a fuck and from producers Metro.
Which latest songs, videos or mixtapes releases are currently
available to your fans and where can they be heard or
All of my content can be viewed on the Monedi Youtube and Souncloud, there is also like 2-3 songs on streaming services, I don’t manage that so I can not give a very clear answer.
Are there any questions that your were expecting that I didn’t ask
and want to answer?
Nah, not really.
Give a shout out
