Bomb Threat Cancels Roots' SXSW Show

March 19, 2018

This past Saturday night, the Roots' were scheduled to perform at SXSW in Austin, Texas. Due to a bomb threat, the group never got to perform. Austin's Fair Market closed down after the reports as this hasn't been the first time Austin has been a bombing target.

The Roots drummer Questlove took to twitter to apologize to the fans. He reportedly tweeted out more than once, but one tweet has been deleted. "Welp. It's 2018. Show cancelled. These are the times we now live in." Was the reportedly deleted tweet. He then tweeted out and has kept on his account, "No one is Mr.'Show must go on' than me. But we can't risk our lives if we are told there was a bomb threat. I'm sure we will return to Austin ladies and gentleman. Thanks for understanding."

A report from Shannon Van Sant at NPR said that the Austin Police Department has arrested 26-year-old Trevor Weldon Ingram for making a terroristic threat. The threat had reportedly come in via email at around 4:30 p.m. and Ingram was taken into custody at 11:15 p.m.

Austin recently had bombing attacks on March 2nd, and some of the attacks lasted 10 days. Two people were killed and some were injured during this span, prompting Austin to be on high alert for their highly anticipated SXSW concert.
