Interview with BlacKlout

April 3, 2019

What drew you to the music industry?

-The fact that it isn’t all fun and games, it takes money, time, energy, and hard work like any business but the rewards are far greater than what most people experience. Above all though, the ability to touch someone and help them just vibe out or get through a mood just with a simple song is amazing.

Who are you inspired by?

-Hands down Kevin Gates, I want to be a bread winner and provide for my family but first and foremost I’m man who is founded on morals and principalities, a code I must abide by. Wale, J. Cole, Chance, Kendrick, they older now but starting off, they were young with old souls, that’s me.

Please explain your creative process

- I hear a beat and immediately know a chorus right there or I got something I cook up just writing and find a beat to match. Then in the studio, I think of background noises, things to add into the track or switch real quick.

What’s an average day like for you?

-No such thing, I’m active duty military and it varies but once I step into my house, I go straight to my computer to work on a song.

Is there a hidden meaning in any of your music?

-If you really listen to my music, there’s subliminal messages everywhere, only the real would relate.

Do you collaborate with others? What is that process?

- I do and will collab with people I know. It can be the homie, somebody from round the way or an event I’ve met. It’s as simple as asking. If I ask someone or tell them I got an idea and they ignore it, don’t bother me at all because I know what I’m capable of and it’s only a matter of time before people see it. Those same people will hit me up or hate.

Please discuss how you interact with and respond to fans

- Like I would anybody else, if they a fan of me, I’m a fan of them. I don’t go out looking for attention or nothing but its all love and respect til it’s not.

What is your favorite part about this line of work? Your least favorite? Why?

-The release of stress through creativity and inspire others simultaneously is my favorite. The way people who could help you and/or you help them act shady or brand new is my least cuz at the end of the day, most of us have the same goal, get money and free ourselves, family, etc. but they have a different way going about it.

Have you ever dealt with performance anxiety?

-I mean we all get jittery I guess starting off but I’ve done standup comedy so my first performance for coast2coast live, I just went up there and did my thing. Thot Pose had the crowd lit.

Tell me about your favorite performance venues

-I don’t have any yet, ain’t been at it that long but ask me again in 6 months.

What advice would you have for someone wanting to follow in your footsteps?

-Take off and don’t stop. If you wanna do music, sing, be successful then just start doing those things. I wrote one song as a joke on Feb 2nd 2019 and 15 singles and a EP later here I am.
