What drew you to the music industry?
The ability to express your creativity with no limitations, and an unconditional love for the art of music.
Who are you inspired by?
Literally everybody, my friends my family, strangers even, I feel like all people offer inspirations in someway shape or form but if I had to narrow it down to a few specific artist, main stream artist I would say Kanye and Nipsey Hussle, J cole, Kendrick, but I like a lot of lesser known artist like Brother Kamau, Velvet Negroni, an Corbin
Please explain your creative process
I have to be in the mood to create, I feel like I make the best music when I’m inspired and when I have a story to tell or feelings an emotions to get out.
What’s an average day like for you?
Unfortunately I don’t really have a daily routine like I should, but I definitely make sure I get money everyday and do something productive or that I need to get done, then I pretty much wing the rest.
Is there a hidden meaning in any of your music?
I have some music that is literal an straight forward then I definitely have some that’s up to interpretation but that’s up to listener to discern
Do you collaborate with others? What is that process?
I love to collaborate, especially when there’s a a good energy/dynamic with the other artist, and I feel like that’s when I create some of my best work
Please discuss how you interact with and respond to fans
I always respond to anyone because I treat others as equal, I enjoy feedback from people an just genuine appreciation for my music, it’s what keeps me going and lets me know I’m doing something right
What is your favorite part about this line of work? Your least favorite? Why
I like making music that I like listening to so hearing a finish product an it turns out how I wanted or better is one of the best feelings, also gettin dm’s and messages about the appreciation of my songs, especially some of my more conscious pieces because they have a greater impact on people an they can actually take away something from that.
I don’t like how the industry is set up I feel like it’s unfair to a lot of talented artist and favors the people with more popularity, money, and resources most of the time, but then again it’s that kind of thing that makes your music all the more special when people still find it throughout the overly saturated market, it means more to me when people prefer that over some of the stuff that’s force fed to them by the biased music magazines/blogs/outlets
Have you ever dealt with performance anxiety?
All the time, I’m already an anxious individual so when all eyes are on you on stage sharing your soul with people that’s when you’re in your most vulnerable an raw form it can definitely be an overwhelming feeling.
Tell me about your favorite performance venues
I don’t really have a specific venue I favor just because the place doesn’t matter to me, I feed off energy so the audience and their reaction and energy is what moves me.
What advice would you have for someone wanting to follow in your
There is never a time like the present don’t wait on people, places, and things hold yourself accountable and seize opportunities when they present themselves, if all else fails do it yourself, and above all else enjoy the process.
