Interview with Val3T

July 13, 2019

What drew you to the music industry?

Basically the first time I ever came in touch with music was through my Dad. He first taught me how to play the drums soon after that I decided that I want to expand my musical knowledge. So I started to learn how to play the guitar. I was a huge Rock/Metal fan at that time but I kinda drifted to Hip Hop, I really do not know why. But now I am here and I want to make it big!

Who are you inspired by?

I had many “Idols” first it was Eminem than it became Joyner Lucas. But right now I would say that Pump and Skies really drive me forward and on bad days they make me feel better. It sounds kinda weird but most of you will probably know that feeling.

Please explain your creative process?

The moment I get the idea to start a new song I get in a certain mood. For example, when I made Val3t I felt like, you know just f**k everything and everyone. I wanted to make something that doesn’t really show emotions.  But anyways I first go through either the internet or ask friends of  mine that are producers if they have any fire beats. Well, if they do I pay for it, write the lyrics (I write it with a kinda clear mind. I want to have a meaning behind some lines.)

What an average day for you?

I basically get up at around 6:30am and I do all the morning things a person has to do. Like for example: take a shower, brush their teeth sometimes even eat breakfast. After that I write a list with about 10 things I want to accomplish this day. So I sit down and think what I need or want to do that helps me improve myself everyday. At about 9 am I start to look for beats that fit my mood that day, if I find one I start to write lyrics. If I get done the same day. It is awesome. If not there is one thing on the next days list I don’t have to think about you know? After I usually walk my dogs, I got 2 chocolate brown Labradors. (They are my life). Then I eat dinner. Maybe meet some friends in the evening and repeat it the next day.

Is there a hidden meaning in any of your music?

IF there was a hidden meaning I´d like my fans to find out what it means and which song it is

Do you collaborate with others ? What is that process?

I only had one collaboration until now. But I usually hit them up on insta with the typical “What up fam”

What is your favorite part about this line of work? Your least favorite? Why?

I kinda like all of it but I dislike some parts I like. You know ? Like constantly thinking about lyrics I love it but I also kinda dislike it. Or looking for beats. But I am trying to do something that I love. Making music and that comes with it. So it is good I guess.

Have you ever dealt with performance anxiety?

I never really performed until now. But the times I did I had a bit of anxiety: “Will the people like my song, will they boo me out” Just things like that. But as soon as I am on stage the show begins!!!

Tell me about your favorite performance venue?

Well since I didn’t really perform until now I cannot really tell. But I can tell you what my goal is for this/next year to sellout Vienna Stadthalle.

What advice would you have for someone wanting to follow in your foosteps?

Always…ALWAYS be prepared. Do not sit around and wait for opportunities. Look for them or even create some yourself.
